Ageplay

Ageplay is an expedition through different states and expressions that are traditionally marked by different ages. On stage we see two people portrayed by Lisen Rosell and Amanda Apetrea. They move in various more or less graceful patterns across the stage, they play the cello and flute, they huff and puff, they suck, drool, lick, they stroke and pull. It's not always easy, but it's sometimes fun and sometimes serious. Sometimes they have to put on rompers and cry over spilled milk and sometimes they have to indulge in senior gymnastics.
The show is inspired by themes such as birth, crawling, learning to walk, growing pains, tendonitis, aging, sexuality, sex, poo, pussy, snot, semen, and death. In other words, the complicated and disgusting thing about relating to the temporality of life.
Ageplay is an immature play, an exploration of sexual as well as non-sexual age games and a musical play a la the culture school.
Apetrea and Rosell have for many years explored desire, body, sexuality, gender and humor in several performances. For example, in Grottbjörnens folk (2017) they went back in time 35,000 years and in Pride and Prejudice (2021) they dived into the late 18th century.
Joining in the process is Benjamin Quigley, who has arranged music and designed the sound for the performance, and Ellen Norlund, who created the room and costume.
Benjamin Quigley is a musician and composer who has a wealth of experience in composing and performing music for stage works, most recently in 2021 with the Institute's work Korpelarörelsen in which he was also a musician, librettist and dramaturg. In addition to this, he has also created, directed and performed a long series of stage works.
